A prolific Rangers goalscorer, Scotland international and, most importantly to us, a treasured member of the Northern Beaches Rangers Supporters Club family.

George “Dandy” McLean joined Rangers from St Mirren and certainly knew where the goal was. The powerful centre-forward scored an outstanding 49 goals in just 69 appearances for the Light Blues, an impressive strike rate during his time at Ibrox.

​

His career also took him to Dundee, Dunfermline Athletic, Ayr United, Vancouver Whitecaps and Hamilton Academical, while he also earned the honour of representing Scotland against the Netherlands in 1968.

​

But for those of us at the Northern Beaches Rangers Supporters Club, Dandy means considerably more than statistics from a football career.

 

For the past 25 years, we've been privileged to have Dandy as part of our club, entertaining generations of members with stories from his playing days and memories of Rangers and Scottish football from an era most of us could only wish we'd experienced firsthand.

We're incredibly thankful to have him as part of our club and equally proud and honoured that a former Ranger continues to call the Northern Beaches RSC home.
