A Rangers supporter who went from the stands to pulling on the famous Light Blue shirt, Andy Halliday lived the dream that every Rangers fan has had.

Born and raised in Glasgow, Andy grew up within sight of Ibrox in a Rangers-mad family. A season-ticket holder from the age of four, he followed the club everywhere — even travelling to Manchester for the 2008 UEFA Cup Final and missing a school exam in the process.

After spells with Livingston, Middlesbrough, Blackpool and Bradford City — where he famously scored in their incredible 4–2 FA Cup victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge — Andy finally got the opportunity he'd dreamed about when he signed for Rangers in 2015.

​

He made an immediate impact, scoring a spectacular long-range goal on his competitive debut against Hibernian, and became an important part of the side that won promotion back to the Scottish Premiership and reached the 2016 Scottish Cup Final.

Over five years at Ibrox, Andy made 152 appearances and scored 18 goals, playing in midfield and at left-back and representing Rangers in European competition. His passion for the club was never difficult to spot, and Steven Gerrard once described him as his “unofficial captain” following a memorable 1–0 Old Firm victory at Ibrox in December 2018.

Since leaving Rangers, Andy has remained a familiar voice to Scottish football supporters through his media work, including regular appearances on Open Goal, where his stories and sense of humour have made him a favourite off the pitch as well as on it.
